Twenty-Seven Years Ago.

Twenty-seven years ago (and a few days because I'm late putting up this post), my mom and dad were married under the pine trees at The Farm where I later grew up.

I love these old pictures and even more that my parents are still in love. I went home on their anniversary to find the house full of roses -- 28 to be exact. My dad began the tradition on their wedding day of always giving my mom an extra rose for the next year. No wonder I'm such a romantic with parents like these!

Its very comforting to think that through everything; my dad commuting from China and traveling all the time, all of our moves, and the little trials of day to day life, Mom and Dad still want to be together! And, are even planning on spending significant amounts of time alone on the seas in their new sailboat.

I can't think of anything more lovely than that!

My August Vacation

On a whim, as most things in my life are officially decided, I applied to go on a Volunteer Vacation with the American Hiking Society. I requested the Bridger-Teton National Forest trip and recieved confirmation today that I will be spending August 16-23 in Teton, Wyoming!

How gorgeous does this look!?!

I'm so excited, but I have so much to prepare for. I need to scavenge a backpacking backpack, figure out the tent situation, borrow my mom's work boots (please mom!) and a list of other things.

I'll be detailing my journey and preparation over the next few weeks (while I'm there I will have zero access). I'm looking forward to some clean, fresh air and beautiful scenery. I think this is exactly what I need.

Eating My Way Through NYC Part II

Last night, after walking home in the pouring rain and a mani/pedi, Marlo and I decided to walk down Second Avenue to find a place to eat dinner. We stumbled on a little Italian/Sicilian place, Nica Trattoria, she'd tried once and enjoyed.

While we waited for a table, Marlo convinced me that we had to share a bottle of wine (clearly not much convicing needed). The waiter decided we had to try the 2005 Amarrone from his home town.

Soon, we were seated at a tiny table in the corner trying to decipher the rapid-fire daily specials the host, Giuseppe, was tossing our way.

Two hours later, we'd polished off the Amarrone, a plate of sweet figs and prosciutto, a stuffed artichoke, a small plate of gnocchi (the best I've ever had) and a monkfish (not a fan).

The atmosphere was lively, the host and waiter were typical Italians, and Marlo and I spent the evening reminiscing about our summer in Italy.

Even though my skirt did not fit this morning, it was a delicious evening.
